Brainboxes release galvanically isolated options for networking industrial serial

Our new galvanically isolated industrial Ethernet devices will provide reliable, high quality solutions for engineers looking for a simple, easy to use option for networked serial in the challenging environment of the factory floor, the ES-571 with its 2 port Ethernet switch makes adding the device a synch

Eamonn Walsh Managing Director of Brainboxes

This summer Brainboxes Ltd, based in Liverpool, UK, have released their latest Ethernet to Serial products, including galvanically isolated industrial specification ES-551 and ES-571. Designed to meet the needs of the 24V factory floor where reliability and high performance are paramount Brainboxes Ethernet to Serial products offer galvanic isolation to help prevent electromagnetic interference problems, can be run from a +5VDC up to a +30VDC power supply, have easy to use software that enables legacy compatibility and come with lifetime support and warranty.

The ES-551 with total galvanic isolation has a multiple electronic interface serial port, which is RS232/422/485 software selectable and 1 Ethernet port.  The ES-571 has a multiple electronic interface serial port, which is RS232/422/485 software selectable and two Ethernet ports all with total galvanic isolation. The second Ethernet port allows the devices to be daisy chained, extending the reach of your network.Galvanic Isolation, useful for applications in electromagnetically noisy environments such as processes involving power generators, motors, arc furnaces, induction heaters etc. offers the highest grade of protection possible preventing damaging high voltage transient surges that would affect devices downstream.

Like all products in Brainboxes industrial Ethernet to serial range the ES-551 and ES-571 have a temperature range of -30ºC to +80ºC and the CPU temperature can be monitored via the web interface. Both new products have a built in DIN rail mount as part of their slim design, perfect for when space is a premium. The “Easy wire” feature makes instillation simple and fast as the removable terminal blocks are colour coded with numbered pins. The +5VDC to +30VDC power input allows for a duel redundant power supply and can be powered by any computer USB port- useful for configuring the device from a laptop in the field.

The ES-551 and ES-571 have signed drivers and have undergone rigorous testing to ensure that ‘it just works’. Our software allows hassle free installation, configuration and monitoring via an easy to use webpage. With any custom baud rate up to 1 Mega baud and software selectable RS232, RS422 or RS485 full/half duplex. The software give local COM ports that are backwards compatible enabling legacy applications and the device to work with a myriad of third party software.
