Brainboxes has launched brand new software for the BL-565 CompactFlash Bluetooth card which is fully compatible with Microsoft’s latest Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system. The software is competitively priced at $20 or sterling / euro equivalent plus carriage and is only available by emailing [email protected] and requesting product number BL-0CD.

Customers who have purchased the BL-565 from one of our suppliers from 1st November 2005 onwards can obtain the updated software free of charge by contacting [email protected] and quoting the product serial number.

Brainboxes new and improved software is extremely user friendly and enables a standard Bluetooth keyboard to be used with the PDA. It provides a clear interface with a Connection manager function providing easy steps to set up a Bluetooth connection and customisation of settings and priorities. The software also allows the user to easily create a Microsoft ActivSync connection – used to synchronise a PDA and a PC – with only a few taps of the screen and using the software’s favourites section, to access any connection without repeating the full set-up process.
Additional features include: My favourites folder option, Generic Serial Profile, Business Cards Exchange, Generic Device Search, Dial-Up Networking, LAN Access, File Transfer and Human Interface Device.

Brainboxes’ BL-565 Type 1 CompactFlash Bluetooth card won Best Mobile Computing Product 2005 at Microsoft Tech-Ed Exhibition, Amsterdam and allows a personal computer with a CompactFlash slot to communicate wirelessly with other Bluetooth devices. Based on CSR Bluecore™ silicon it enables communication at the full Bluetooth data rate of 723Kbps. In addition to compatibility with the new Windows Mobile 5.0 OS it will work with Windows XP, Pocket PC 2000, 2002, 2003 and CE.NET.

The BL-565 is CE and FCC tested, has an integral antenna and operates as a fully qualified class 1 Bluetooth device at 14dBm, which means it has a range of over 100 metres. An important feature of the BL-565 is its use of on-board Flash memory, making it user upgradeable to the latest version of the evolving Bluetooth specification.

The Brainboxes Bluetooth suite for Windows CE supports the following profiles: GAP, SDAP, SPP, FTP, OPP, LAP (Client), DUN (Client), PAN (client), HID, VoIP and ActiveSync.
