Brainboxes Release Low Profile Cards to High Profile Customers 2002-07-08
Brainboxes, the Bluetooth and serial PC add on specialists have announced two new low profile PCI communications cards for space-constrained system designs. The two port and four port cards, which are less than 85mm in height, have been released in response to market demand from sectors such as banking, hotel and retail where Brain Boxes already supply Fujitsu, Reuters and IBM. The two cards will complement a one port version released to coincide with the launch of Low Profile PCI as a standard in February 2000.
"Establishing ourselves early in this market has enabled us to continue to exceed customer expectations." Eamonn Walsh, CEO of Brain Boxes remarks. "In a rapidly changing market our customers need to be sure that they will be able to source the latest technology in the correct form factors, which is why they return to Brain Boxes time after time."
Low profile PCI is similar to PCI in terms of electricals, signals, and drivers, but possesses a more compact form factor with a shorter raw card and new mounting bracket. The new generation of PCs utilising low profile PCI are especially popular in the hotel, banking, and retail industry because of their reduced footprint. They are used to connect peripheral devices such as cheque readers, credit card readers and barcode readers.
The two new cards from Brain Boxes are backward compatible with standard PCI brackets. Both new cards are offered with Brain Boxes customer support package including a three-year warranty.
