Brainboxes announces the launch of the ED-204, a new flexible, highly-integrated digital networking module for industrial machine control

March 2014: Brainboxes announces
the launch of the ED-204, a new flexible, highly-integrated digital networking module
for industrial machine control. This device combines a dual-port Ethernet
switch, an Ethernet to RS-232 serial interface and an Ethernet to
4-channel digital I/O in a compact 3-in-1 solution that saves the cost of
deploying three separate units. Brainboxes will showcase this product at CeBIT
in Hannover between 10-14 March 2014 along with other serial and remote I/O
devices the company manufactures.
Run from a +5V to +30V DC power
supply. Brainboxes’ ED-204 Digital inputs can be latched or counter inputs and
are TTL to 30V input compatible. Inputs are individually jumper selectable for
NPN active low type sensors or PNP active high type sensors. Individual outputs
can sink up to 1 amp at 40V maximum load and can cope with high voltage and
high current loads making it ideal for inductive, capacitive and resistive
loads such as CNC machines and stepper motors as well as operating heating
ventilation and air conditioning systems.
Brainboxes’ ED-204 10/100 MB/s
Ethernet switch allows you to extend your network or ‘daisy chain’ devices. For
error-free operation in noisy industrial applications, the device also has an
RS-232 serial port offering up to 1 MegaBaud with uncompromising performance. Port
Tunnelling allows serial cable replacement over any distance with no additional
software required. All I/O pins provide 16kV ESD protection.
The device controls data flow to
CNC and DNC machines reliably and works with legacy communication protocols
used on industrial machinery. Control
and monitoring of the device is implemented with a simple, convenient and easy
to use web-based interface. Software drivers give users a local COM port for
compatibility with virtually all industry standard packages such as LabView,
MATLAB and Agilent VEE. Applications can be run on servers, desktops, laptops,
tablets and smartphones, including Android, using supplied drivers for all the
latest operating systems.
Brainboxes supports the din rail
or wall mountable ED-204 with a software suite that allows users to design new
systems with mobile in mind. APIs and sample program code are provided for Microsoft
.NET, C#, Visual Basic, C++, JavaScript, PHP, Java and Objective-C.

Steuerung von CNC-Maschinen

stellt unter der Bezeichnung ED-204 ein flexibles, hochintegriertes digitales
Netzwerk-Modul für industrielle Maschinensteuerungen vor. Das Modul enthält
einen Dual-Port Ethernet-Switch, eine Ethernet zu RS-232 Schnittstelle und
einen Ethernet zu Vierkanal Digital I/O in einer kompakten 3-in-1-Lösung,
welche die Kosten für den Einsatz von drei separaten Einheiten spart. Brainboxes
wird das ED-204 zusammen mit anderen seriellen Remote I/O Geräten aus seiner
Fertigung auf der CeBIT in Hannover zeigen.
Das neue Modul arbeitet mit Versorgungsspannungen von +5 bis +30VDC. Die
Digitaleingänge des ED-204 können als Latches oder Zähler arbeiten und sind TTL-
bis 30V-kompatibel. Die Eingänge des Moduls lassen sich individuell über Jumper
wählen und eignen sich für NPN “Active Low“ oder PNP „Active High“ Sensoren. Individuelle
Ausgänge eignen sich für Lasten von bis zu 1A und 40V maximal. Sie kommen mit
Hochvolt- und Hochstrom-Lasten zurecht. Dies ist ideal für induktive, kapazitive
und ohm‘sche Lasten wie CNC-Maschinen und Schrittmotoren sowie für
Heizlüftersysteme und Klimaanlagen.
Mit dem ED-204 10/100 MB/s Ethernet-Switch von Brainboxes lassen sich bestehende
Netzwerke in „Daisy Chain”’Devices erweitern. Für den fehlerlosen Betrieb in
Industrieanwendungen mit hohem elektrischen Rauschanteil verfügt das Modul auch
über eine serielle RS-232-Schnittstelle mit bis zu 1Mbit/s mit kompromissloser
Leistungsfähigkeit. „Port Tunnelling” erlaubt den Austausch serieller Kabel über
beliebige Entfernungen ohne zusätzliche Software. Alle I/O-Pins sind gegenüber ESD
bis 16kV geschützt.
Das Modul steuert den Datenfluss zu CNC- und DNC-Maschinen zuverlässig und
arbeitet mit Legacy Kommunikationsprotokollen, wie sie in Industriemaschinen
verwendet werden. Die Steuerung und Überwachung des Moduls erfolgt über eine
einfache, bequem und leicht handhabbaren Web-Schnittstelle. Software-Treiber geben
Anwendern einen lokalen COM-Port für die Kompatibilität mit praktisch allen
Industriestandard-Softwarepaketen wie LabView, MATLAB and Agilent VEE an die
Hand. Applikationen können auf Servern, Desktops, Laptops, Tablets und Smartphones
inklusive Android Modelle laufen. Dabei werden gelieferte Treiber für alle neuesten
Betriebssysteme verwendet.
Brainboxes unterstützt das auf DIN-Schienen montierbare oder für die
Wandmontage geeignete Modul ED-204 mit einer Softwaresuite, die es Anwendern
ermöglicht, neue Systeme mit dem Thema „Mobile“ im Hinterkopf zu entwickeln. APIs
und Beispiel-Programmcode für Microsoft .NET, C#, Visual Basic, C++,
JavaScript, PHP, Java und Objective-C. werden angeboten.
